During the meeting, IFAPPDE staff involved in the MOKILI Project presented an update on the implementation of activities, key achievements, challenges encountered and progress made in the field.
The discussions also provided an opportunity to share lessons learned from project implementation, particularly regarding community mobilization, family support, prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV, and strengthening access to health services for women and children.
Particular attention was given to the role of local authorities, health officials, community leaders and community health workers in promoting community ownership and sustainability of the project’s interventions. Participants emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration among stakeholders to improve the effectiveness of activities, particularly in mining areas and communities where Indigenous Peoples and local populations face barriers to accessing essential health services.
